5 Things I will always be thankful for

"Gratitude is when memory is stored in the heart and not in the mind"

- Lionel Hampton

There are so many things in this world that people take for granted whether they realize it or not. The act of being thankful for the situations, people, and in general the world around you, allows you to recognize and appreciate everything both big and small that affects you. With the crazy world around us and so much going on it can be hard for people to remember the good things in life and take a second to ponder.

Throughout my years of college and as it comes to an end, it has become more apparent to me what is going to be important to me in the future and what to be thankful for. Family is something that always has been and always will be very important to me and it will always be something that has your back no matter what. I am very thankful for all my family members, especially those who live far away from me. During my first couple of years at college, I had a lot of new situations, friends, classes, and lifestyle to adapt to and I could always count on someone to reach out to check in and whether I was having a busy day or just a laid-back study day. Another thing that I will always be thankful for is the opportunity to join the fraternity, Alpha Sigma Phi because I have made so many amazing relationships with people, I now consider my family. The experiences and time that I had with my brothers are something that I will always cherish and be very thankful for the rest of my life.

Regarding school, I will always be thankful for the teachers in my past and since I am going to be graduating soon, I just want to be able to let them all know what they have done for me.  Two teachers from my high school had made a very big impact on me and helped me decide what I wanted to major in and make a career out of. Both were graphic arts teachers, and I did not know what I was getting into when I started the classes. I instantly loved the projects and concepts that both were assigned because it made me think about how to complete the assignments in different ways.  One class was an introduction to Adobe Photoshop which was my first interaction with design software and the lessons that they taught me are still used today when I am designing. Another class was an introduction to Adobe Flash, and it was cool to learn because I never thought I would be able to design some of the things I did back then.

Along with past teachers, I cannot express my gratitude without thanking two of my favorite professors who helped me through class and college as well. Professor Laurie Grace and Professor Pattie Belle Hastings have been teachers of mine since my freshman year of college and they have both helped me immensely by teaching me about the design world and life in general. The knowledge that they have both instilled in me will be put to good use in my future career and for that, I cannot thank them both enough.
